Information for Parents
As the parent of a junior golfer, it is important to know that your child is receiving a quality experience within golf and that their wellbeing is safeguarded when they are participating.
Bondhay Golf Club’s Junior Academy provides a safe and encouraging environment for all children, whatever their ability, and has structured player development programmes and safeguarding policies to ensure that your child has a lot of fun and the chance to maximise their potential.
Membership
Membership is open to all, irrespective of ability or any other factor.
Two categories of membership are available:
Full Junior Member
Par 3 Academy Member
On application all players will be assessed by the Junior Development Team and a recommended player pathway programme will be tailored especially for their needs.
Junior Membership Application Form (7)Coaching
All members of the Academy are coached in the basics of the game, along with rules and etiquette by the Junior Development Team and PGA Professionals. Golf is perhaps the last bastion of grace, respect and honesty in the world of sport and these traditions are emphasised to youngsters as part of the Academy teaching.
All staff are issued with guidelines for good practise when coaching, and members of the Junior Development Team have attended relevant workshops delivered to Club/GolfMark and Sport Coach UK standards.
Safeguarding Policy
All members of the Junior Development Team have undergone a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.
Media Policy
Bondhay Golf Club does not permit photographs, video or other media images to be taken or used by officials of the Club without the informed consent of the parent/guardian and the child on the Photographs and Recorded Images consent form.
Images and video of children could be used as part of the coaching programme; to celebrate success; to encourage other young people to participate in the Game of Golf; or promote Club activities. They may appear in local publications, e.g. Derbyshire Times, Worksop Guardian, Club Leaflets; shown in public places e.g. Club Notice Boards and Audio-visual Equipment; or on the Club website. In any occurrence personal information about the young person will not be included.
Photographic and Media Imagery Usage Policy & Guidance (2)Guidance and Good Practise for Parents & Guardians
As a parent or guardian of a child you play a vital role in their development, and your encouragement and support can enable them to get the best from a sport they can play for the rest of their lives.
Code of Conduct for Parents (4)Equity
The Bondhay Golf Club Junior Academy is committed to ensuring that no participant should receive less favourable treatment on the grounds of age, gender, parental or martial status, colour, race, ethnic origin, creed, disability, social status or sexual preference or should be disadvantaged by conditions or requirements that cannot be shown to be relevant to performance.
Schools
Bondhay’s Academy coaches, in conjunction with the EGU, Golf Foundation and School Sports Partnerships are currently engaged in an extensive programme of Golf in schools.
Both Tri-Golf and Golf Extreme are being taught in outreach sessions to schools in the Bassetlaw and Bolsover districts. It is hoped that further school links can be developed toward the end of 2009 and into 2010 with schools in the Rotherham area.
This work is vital as it gives children the opportunity to try a sport that they otherwise might not be able to experience. Bondhay also provide use of it’s facilities and Par 3 Academy Course as as courtesy to School programmes giving kids the experience of a high quality and well prepared and maintained golf course.
For more information visit the Golf Foundation, the Bolsover District School Sports website, or the Bassetlaw Schools Sports Partnership website.
